vAPI Call: an API marketplace for AI agents
vAPI Call is an API marketplace for AI agents and the people who run them. Agents search a directory of x402 APIs for free, then pay each request in USDC from their own wallet, with no account or API key at the provider. vAPI never signs a payment and holds no buyer balance.

How an agent finds and pays an API
Call is launching. These steps describe the launch flow, and production search answers once the console serves Call.
- Install the client with
npm i -g vapi-networkand create a local wallet withvapi init. - Send a small amount of USDC on Base to that wallet.
vapi fundopens a funding page. - Find an API with
vapi search, then read its request contract, price, fee, verification and liveness withvapi inspect. Both are free. - Pay with
vapi pay <listing> --max 0.02. The client reads the live 402, checks it against your per-call and daily caps, signs one exact USDC authorization and returns the API's response with a local receipt.
Agents in an MCP client use the same flow through the tools call.search, call.inspect and call.pay. When Call launches, people will also be able to pay from a browser wallet in the console, which asks the wallet to sign every paid request.
A search on staging
This is vapi-network 0.7.0 run against the staging directory on 2026-10-02. Search on the production directory opens when Call launches.

Fee: 5% network fee, paid by the API's splitter
stablephone api [partner] [verified] StablePhone
Have an AI voice agent phone a US or Canadian number and carry out a task. Each call settles $0.54 in USDC on Base over x402.

the-graph api [partner] [verified] The Graph
Send GraphQL queries directly to The Graph's x402 endpoint. Each request settles $0.01 in USDC on Base.
Fee: No network fee
$ VAPI_REGISTRY_URL=https://api-staging.vapinetwork.ai vapi inspect decodepaymentauthorization
Verification: verified
Fee: 5% network fee, paid by the API's splitter
Liveness: 99.4% up over 7 days (168 checks) · p50 89 ms · p95 359 ms
Conformance: x402 v2, conformant, offer in header and bodyWhat it costs
- Search, inspect and the request contract cost nothing, in the client, the hosted MCP and the console directory.
- Each API sets its own price in its live 402. On staging, a decode costs $0.005, a query to The Graph $0.01 and a StablePhone call $0.54.
- The live 402 is the price you pay. A price shown in search can be out of date, so the client reads the 402 again before it signs.
- 5% network fee on self-listed APIs, nothing on indexed listings. The provider's onchain splitter takes the fee from what it receives, so buyers pay the quoted price with no markup.
- There is no subscription, and vAPI holds no balance for you.
How listings earn trust
Verifiedmeans vAPI reviewed the API against a published nine-point rubric.Unverifiedmeans it passed the automated x402 probe and has not been reviewed.External catalogmarks listings mirrored from Coinbase's x402 Bazaar. vAPI charges no fee on them and rechecks them in batches, each at most once a day.- Self-listed and partner APIs are probed again every hour. Three failed checks in a row suspend a listing until the provider fixes the endpoint and goes live again.
- Default search shows verified APIs and the external catalog. Add
--include-unverifiedto see the rest.
